Pour-Over Coffee for Beginners
Pour-over coffee rewards consistency more than complicated equipment.
A practical beginner introduction to pour-over equipment, technique, and common mistakes.
Equipment
Use a dripper, matching filter, grinder, kettle, coffee and water. A scale is helpful but not mandatory.
Starting ratio
Try approximately 15 grams of coffee to 250 grams of water, then adjust to preference.
Technique
Rinse the filter, wet the grounds evenly, and pour in controlled stages.
Troubleshooting
If coffee is weak or sour, adjust grind finer or extraction. If bitter or overly harsh, try a coarser grind.
